Plot Sizes & Fees

We offer a range of plot sizes to suit your needs and experience level. The typical size of an allotment plot is 10 square poles (approximately 2,700 square feet or 250 sqm).

2025 Rates: £10.20 per pole (rent) + £5.20 per pole (water)

Half Plot

5 poles (125 sqm)

Our most popular size. Enough space for a varied vegetable garden plus some flowers and fruit.

Full Plot

10 poles (250 sqm)

£154.00/year

Rent: £102.00/yearWater: £52.00/year

For the dedicated gardener. Space for extensive growing, a greenhouse, and fruit trees.

How to Apply

Submit Application

Complete our application form with your details and preferences. Applications are assessed on the strength of your answers, so take your time and be thorough.

Application Review

The committee reviews each application carefully. We no longer operate a waiting list — places are offered based on the quality of your application.

Plot Viewing

When a plot becomes available, we will invite you to view it with a committee member.

Sign your tenancy agreement, pay the £50 non-refundable joining fee plus annual fee, and start your allotment journey!

Requirements & Terms

  • Preference given to residents of the London Borough of Barnet, but residency is not a strict requirement
  • Must be 18 years or older (under 18s can be named on a family plot)
  • Sign a tenancy agreement and pay a £50 non-refundable joining fee
  • Agree to abide by our allotment rules and Terms & Conditions of Tenancy
  • Commit to maintaining approximately 80% of your plot under cultivation
  • New plotholders serve a 12-month probationary period — if the plot is being cultivated satisfactorily, tenancy becomes permanent

Rent Payment

Our year runs from January 1st to December 31st. Rent demands are sent at the beginning of December for the forthcoming year. Payment must be received within 40 days of January 1st (by February 10th). Failure to pay may result in breach of tenancy and a month's notice to quit.
